Peter Scalamandre & Sons, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support a design-build transit project for the MTA in the New York metropolitan area. Working alongside the Project Manager and Construction Manager, the APM will own significant portions of the submittal, procurement, cost, and change management workflows — administering subcontracts and purchase orders, managing RFIs and design package coordination, preparing change notices and force account records, and serving as a key day-to-day interface with the Owner's team, the design team, and third-party utilities. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 5–8 years of progressive project engineering or project management experience on heavy civil work, with demonstrated command of subcontract administration, change order pricing, and payment requisitions, plus proficiency in Procore (or similar), Primavera P6, and Excel. Prior MTA or transit/rail experience and familiarity with design-build delivery and public agency contract administration are strongly preferred. This is a field-based position in an active railroad right-of-way, with night, weekend, and outage-window work as dictated by track access — and a clear path to Project Manager on major transit infrastructure.

This role runs RFQ, RFP, and ITB responses from solicitation through submission — managing compliance matrices, addenda, bonding and MWBE/SDVOB documentation, subcontractor solicitation and bid leveling, and price proposal assembly alongside our estimating team. It's a deadline-driven, detail-first position for someone who treats compliance and submission mechanics as non-negotiable and thrives on bid day. 5–8 years of public-agency bid/proposal administration experience in the AEC industry required.

Prepare and track change orders and requisitions including high level estimating, subcontractor proposal review, proficiency in change order narrative writing, subcontractor invoicing, payment processing, certified payroll documentation, AIA requisitions etc. Prepares independent estimates on change proposals and new directives, and recommends an equitable adjustment per contract specifications and requirements. Experience with construction documentation (change order preparation, subcontractor invoicing, payment processing, certified payroll documentation, AIA requisitions etc.) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe PDF/Bluebeam. Seeking an experienced on-site safety manager to join our Joint Venture supervision team for a long-term LIRR station upgrade contract. Initial assignment is on a 2.5 – 3-year design/build project. Preferably a Long Island resident, but not mandatory. Minimum 5 years of field safety experience required. Strong preference for candidates with at least 10 years of experience working with union locals. Experience with MTA and/or LIRR preferred, but not mandatory. Responsibilities include overseeing site demo, piling, shoring, foundations, steel, elevators, escalators, and architectural finishes. Immediate opportunity available.
