Project Scope:

  • Due to increasing demand, JetBlue Airways Corporation desired to construct a new JFK Terminal 5 and become the sole tenant. Peter Scalamandre & Sons was chosen as the Civil General Contractor to provide civil support work related to the installation of a new thermal distribution system and chilled water lines without disruption to ongoing airport operations.
  • The scope of the project called for supportive excavation of existing asphalt and concrete pavement. Soil excavation and removal from site was performed to a variety of specified depths in order to prepare the site for the utility installation.
  • A new thermal distribution system and chilled water lines were installed to specified elevations.
  • Filling of the excavated areas and placement new pavement followed. All of the various mix designs and pavement sections met the standards of PANYNJ and FAA.
  • Lagging walls and H-beams were installed in order to complete this project.
